Frankfurt is Germany’s fifth largest city and the first place that I chose for my solo trip. The city is one of the busiest financial and commercial centers on the continent. Frankfurt’s ideal location on the River Main has been a center of commerce for centuries. Rich in natural, historical and cultural attractions, it has become a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The city offers a trendy art and food scene, as well as a range of tours to suit most budgets and interests. Here is a list of things you can do when you are in the beautiful city.
Stay
This time I decided to stay at NH Collection, which is a 10 minute walk from the city center. Distinguished by its commitment to sustainability, NH Collection was recognized in the Standard & Poor’s “Sustainability Yearbook 2022” as the third most sustainable company in the hospitality industry worldwide. They have adapted sustainable ways and products to protect the environment. They practice green living by using organic products and clean energy. The hotel has a system of waste separation at the point of origin to permit recycling. It has implemented a monitoring system for hazardous waste to minimize the impact of food waste, the green hotels apply processes, technical data sheets and preparation standards in the production chain.
Things to Do:
I love exploring new cities, especially on the hop-on hop-off bus. This is the most convenient way to learn about history, culture and scenic spots.
Go to Frankfurt’s Zeil (Golden Mile)- It is often called “the Fifth Avenue of Germany,” and it is where the biggest department stores are located. This is the city’s first pedestrian shopping promenade. It also includes shops from high-end names like Chanel and Cartier, as well as shops selling rare antiques and collectibles. You will definitely love it!
Visit DomRömer Quarter: The next place that should definitely be on your list is the DomRömer Quarter. Frankfurt’s “new” old town stretches for 7,000 square metres between Cathedral Square and the mediaeval Römer building, which was more than 90% destroyed during the wars. You can find thriving cafes, fashion boutiques and some decent museums here.
Explore Flohmarkt Schaumainkai:In between your visit, you can explore the Flohmarkt Schaumainkai, considered Frankfurt’s best flea market and open on the tree-lined south bank of the Main River. If you visit the market, you’ll find everything from old toys to locally made clothes, second-hand bicycles, handicrafts, antique furniture and quintessential works of art.
Experience Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge): You cannot definitely miss the Iron Bridge which gives an amazing city view and is full of love locks. Spanning across the main river it is the only walking bridge. The views are fantastic, particularly the view of the downtown skyline, “Mainhattan”. Also beautiful is the view of the museums that line the Main River in Sachsenhausen (colloquially called Museumufer, or Museum River Bank). Frankfurt is a very walkable city and residents and tourists alike use this bridge.
Visit Frankfurt’s old town Römerberg square: In the heart of Altstadt – Frankfurt’s old town – you’ll find Römerberg Square, one of the city’s most popular attractions. This iconic location is home to a wealth of interesting things, from quaint medieval buildings to historic markets. Standing in the square, it sometimes feels like you’re on a movie set – it’s a postcard-perfect setting from days gone by.
Spend time in Frankfurt’s Berger Strasse: It remains a best kept secret for visitors to the city. For locals, this bustling part of town has long been a favourite for shopping, dining and hanging out. For anyone looking to experience more than the Frankfurt skyline or do some shopping beyond the usual chain stores you can find on any main street, a visit to Berger Strasse is a must and can not be ignored.

Immori.: A super good place to have a patisserie in the place is Immori.You can’tmiss the super cozy yet quirky patisserie at this place. You will definitely love it!
Inside Lokma: Another charming place is Inside Lokma. If you like sugar, Inside Lokma is for you. They are filled with vanilla or hazelnut chocolate. You can also choose from a variety of fresh fruit toppings, almonds, pistachios, sauces like caramel, chocolate.
Goc Pho Frankfurt: Goc Pho is located in the heart of Frankfurt, very close to the “Dom” and the “Hauptwache”. The menu offers a wide range of authentic Vietnamese dishes and drinks. A stylish location that combines an industrial atmosphere with an Asian taste. I loved their rice noodles with tofu, salad and fresh herbs.
Quattro Frankfurt: The Italian menu under the command of a great chef is fantastic at this place. Savouring delicious tiramisu, panna cotta and che is a delightful experience.
Falafel & Mehr: Falafel & mehr is a fast food restaurant in Frankfurt, Rhine-Main located on Berger Str. You will love their falafel stuffed pitas. You can come here for nicely cooked falafels, hummus and frankfurters.
MoshMosh: Specialising in noodles and Asian dishes, the MoshMosh menu can make any mouth water. You will definitely enjoy fresh and healthy food!
